Do you remember the troubles I was going through to find a job in Australia? I remember it well, I really struggled for a couple of weeks, almost giving up when I finally found a nice place to stay including a job at a music label called Bedlam Records.
The complete opposite happened in San Francisco. I didn’t find the time to search for a job while I was in Malaysia and basically started after I arrived in the US. Same procedure, sending out mails to photographers that I really want to work with. On day one I wrote 5 mails. On day two I recieved an answer to the very first mail that I sent out the day before:
“Fabian,
Love what you are doing! Im talking with my roommate about this.
When would your stay begin?
Maybe we can meet up for a drink to talk more in person.
Cheers,
Daniel”
Long story short, I met him and his roommate and a couple of days later I moved in. Started work immediately and helped him preparing his portfolio in print for a review in New York. Working long, working late. It almost felt like being back in uni when I went to bed at 8am the day he had to leave to the portfolio review, getting the last prints done after the sun rose and people were walking with their coffees to work.
Looking forward to some future shoots with him.
So far San Francisco treats me very good. I appreciate it.

Coming back to the story of Australia. One of the nights, I was hanging out in the lab with Tom, we gave ourselves the task to write a cheesy electronic pop song. And now, two months later the song is going to be released on the upcomnig album of DJ duo “Those Wankers”.
