yurutse 3
A local man at the village of Yurutse. With only one house propably the smallest village on earth. We had an overnight stay at this family place before starting a walk on 5000m high Gandala Pass in Ladakh, HImalaya of India.

When I started my journey beginning of the year, my digital camera started to give me headaches and within 4 months the condition of it became so bad, that I had to go back to analog photography and bought cheap films wherever I found some. All those photos were taken with a very old Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SLR and a Fuji Rangefinder Camera from the 90’s.

I got the negatives delevoped in Cairo and was very disappointed with the quality. Big scratches and waterdrops on almost every negative. Also the scan quality was ridiculous. It was cheap so I didn’t freak out. I planned on doing some large scans myself whenever I had the opportunity but I couldn’t manage it until today.

The first year of my travels as a Design-Journeyman ends soon and I decided to publish some now, not regarding the quality. Actually some of them are especially atmospheric just because of the bad quality.

Enjoy!

Never mind the quality. The pictures give the spectator an impressive view of the country and the people living there. Well done.

Have to agree with Austrovadder, and besides I actually kinda dig the quality :-)

Thankx guys. I kinda like the appearance on the screen myself. Wonder if it would be fine with printing too.

Tremendous work Fabian. . . the photos are great. Reverting back to film was, albeit out of necessity, for the better. Of course the photos give me itchy feet and wanderlust.

Mr. McDaniel, nice to hear you are still craving for a nice, long, blisterblessing walk through the Indian Himalaya…
