Addis Foto Fest 2010 official Trailer which I created during my first week as graphics manager
PLEASE CONSIDER BEFORE WRITING A COMMENT LIKE “WHAT THE CONFUSING HECK…”: THIS ARTICLE WAS BORN UNDER PURE STRESS AND INSOMNIA-LIKE STATUS!!!
PART 2:
( read part 1 first )
Finally, some stuff to show.
The real mission started. I joined the team of the Addis Foto Fest already a couple of weeks ago, but there wasn’t much to do at that time. It gave me the chance to work for the museum and the university.
After this short trip to the weird world of advertising I almost started without a break on several things. I went from the real estate campaign meeting straight to the Foto Fest meeting to recieve my schedule and to get used to the fact, that I was from now on working for art again. I spend most time of the first week on the trailer, which will be shown on large screens in the middle of the city. I’ll try to get there the coming days to get some shots of it.
Four billboards needed to be designed. I recieved the info on that last saturday and went to the printer with the final files on monday morning. There is no time for nothing and still I try to keep my obsession with details which costs me a lot of sleep and all the breaks that one should usually take, at least for meals. No chance. In between there are little things like name tags, exhibition descriprions, taking photos and videos of the press conference, CD-Labeling, official letter layouting, Large scale exhibition layouting, quality control of all prints, small things, big things, and things in between that a graphic manager is in charge of. I’m doing that for 2 weeks already in a body-wrecking rythm and it FEELS SO GOOD to be in a project again, that will show a result almost right after you created something.
Tomorrow is printing day for the 36 pages brochure that I had to create and make print-ready in 2 1/2 days, inlcuding the usual research for content. This meant to search the web for roughly suitable texts and artist works or to take a portrait in front of the office from one of the exhibiting participants. Everything is done and ready to be printed. update: the brochure went to the printshop this morning
It’s only 5 days away, this Foto Fest, and there is still a bunch of jobs to do. Gonna go on with the name tags…
You’ll hear from me during the festival.
Cheers

I passed by this billboard while workers were still mounting it. Two days earlier I was layouting it.
