Oh, what a month.

The second day in Bangalore I met Naresh, a local architect who asked me within the five minutes of our talk: “what d’you wanna do?”

I never asked him, but I’m sure he knew from the first minute we shook hands, where I would end up. “There is a place across the street called Jaaga” he said, “I will introduce you to Freeman, the founder. He is a real free man”.

“Okay, sure” I answered and 10 minutes later I was introduced by this architect to the people at Jaaga as the new guy. There was no questioning, there were only welcomes.

It took me about 3 days to get my own stuff done that I couldn’t do while traveling India and I also needed these 3 days to get into the project and the environment. But after that, I immediately started to create. Why was it so easy, I ask myself now? How could I be so productive within only one month and I mean I have done a lot, better and worse things. But I was able to do what I liked, in all kinds of genres. If it was architecture, graphic in web and print, photography, creating a real thing in front of the screen and also with my own hands, building the building I was working in. It was simply the perfect circumstances for my journeyman short-time employment.

My main job was a project called “the living building” and within that project I
especially worked on a vertical garden including an aquaponics system. I’m gonna write more about that in detail in a later article because it deserves it. I’m very grateful I was introduced to a whole new field of architecture that is foreward thinking in sustainable matters.

But right now, I’m just giving you a glimpse of all the small outcomes during my time at Jaaga…
